On Sunday 14 July, a presentation of \u00a3525, the proceeds of the Society’s 50th Anniversary Gala, was made to Kim Smith at Sandiway Miniature Railway. The money will be given to Kim’s charity, Simply The Breast, raising funds for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity. <\/strong> (Read further for more reports about the weekend.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Charity Gala, marking fifty years of the Mid Cheshire Society of Model Engineers, was opened by Kim Smith, of Radio Northwich and charity Simply The Breast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend was a fantastic success – many thanks to all who came along and contributed in any way, and especially to everyone who rode on a train, paid a fare, put a donation into a bucket! Thanks to your generosity, over \u00a3500 was raised for our chosen charity, Simply The Breast (fundraising for Mid Cheshire Hospitals).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wet weather on Saturday morning didn’t dampen Kim’s spirits as she drove Scamp 49 in the opening parade and cut a ribbon to declare the event open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday started wet but didn’t put a stop to people’s enjoyment…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the first time several of us had seen Angela with her new battery 0-6-0 shunter D4500.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The roster of locomotives appearing over the weekend was very impressive – huge thanks to Sol for getting so many of these on board. As well as regular performers, several visiting locomotives did a turn…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steam engines Red Damsel<\/em>, Tom Hankey<\/em> and Balrog<\/em>;
Battery locomotive;
Y6 tram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the Saturday crowd were back again on Sunday and, in addition, we had…<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steam roller (5″ to the foot live steam)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colin Edmondson (known to many as the designer of the Scamp, the Imp, the Flyer and the Tyke) brought David<\/em> (one of his locomotives) and the shed (as seen on TV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
