Well, we’ve finally reached the end of our fundraising efforts for this year and we have been blown away by the generosity of all concerned. The total raised for The Christie Charity in 2025 by the Society is (drum roll please…) \u00a32734, far exceeding our original target. Thank you to everyone who bough tickets, made donations, participated, bought Christie Charity items. Then, of course, to all who organised events, brought guest locomotives, manned our station, sold tickets, ran trains – the list appears to be endless! I’m not about to name everybody – to all who contributed in any way, many many thanks! Particular thanks, however, must go to Sol and Mark who, between them, were the driving force behind our biggest events of the year, our galas in May, June and October. Thank you to everybody who made this such a special year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Christie is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe and the first in the UK to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. The Christie Charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to its patients and their families. www.christie.nhs.uk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Society presented a cheque to the Christie Charity, the proceeds of the year’s fundraising. (The eagle-eyed among you will have spotted that the amount on the ‘presentation’ cheque is slightly less than \u00a32734; this is because we received a couple of late donations and hadn’t the heart to ask the Christie team to write out a second cheque!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
