We promised you eight Scamps and we delivered eleven!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rather uninspiring weather didn’t put anybody off; the owners of the Scamps had a proper good catch-up while visiting passengers enjoyed a variety of rides on both ground level loops – and even the raised track was open for business, with our 5″ gauge shunter doing the honours. Aa a reminder, all the money raised this weekend is being donated to the charity Let’s Farm, a real working farm for people with learning disabilities in Cheshire (see www.letsfarm.org.uk for more)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the day went on, Scamps kept arriving until, by lunchtime, ten were on site and buzzing round the track, owners with their trademark “silly grins” present and correct. Guest of honour must surely have been Scamp 1, still owned by Colin Edmondson, designer of “the little loco with the big heart.” Having been dormant in Colin’s workshop for several years, it saw the light of day again this week and, with a little cajoling and a helping of petrol, it started remarkably easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday we did it all (well, most of it) again. A couple of the Scamps had to return home, but with the arrival of Scamp 92 we still had nine of the little beasties doing the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As ever, huge thanks are due to the owners of the Scamps (particularly the visiting ones, some of whom have made long journeys to be at Sandiway), volunteers at the site and everyone who came for a ride and helped us raise more money for our chosen charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
