SANDIWAY SCAMPERS

Calling all Scampers!

You are invited to our first Scamp gathering at Sandiway Miniature Railway. We are based about three miles from Northwich, in Cheshire; as well as three who run Scamps, we are very fortunate to count Colin Edmondson (who designed the Scamp and wrote the book The Story of the Scamp – the little loco with a big heart) as one of our members, so we’re expecting a great weekend. The railway itself has gone from strength to strength in recent years, now boasting half a mile of 7.25″ gauge track and with a 3.5″/5″ raised track under development, all set in beautiful woodland. The Saturday is a private day, to play with your engines and do what Scamp owners do when they get together; the Sunday is our regular public running day, with all trains being Scamp hauled. There is some secure storage available for your engine(s) for the Saturday night (also for the Friday and/or Sunday if you’re travelling either side of the weekend) – please get in touch for more details about this. We adjoin Blakemere Village (although we are not part of it) and they have a camp site, if you are looking to stay over in a tent or caravan; alternatively, we can steer you towards some local hotels. We also intend to find a nearby venue for an evening meal on the Saturday. Still a certain amount of planning to do (this is our first such event) but if you are interested, please drop an email (see the ‘contact us’ page) and keep an eye on our website for the latest updates.
