A big thank you from everyone at MCSME to all who had any part in making this weekend’s Charity Gala the superb event that it has clearly been. We were blessed with great weather, which drew in a large number of people who were presented with trains on all three loops and, for almost the entire duration, five steam locomotives in operation (and others on static display). It really was quite the spectacle! Big thanks are due to visiting locomotive owners, several of whom made lengthy journeys to get to Sandiway, as well as our own volunteers.
There is a lot to be proud of at Sandiway in 2025. Without exception, comments about the facilities, tracks, etc, are very positive (again, thanks are due to everybody who has been involved with this). We now have something else to be proud of; the weekend raised £954, which more than doubles the amount of money raised by the Society so far this year for the Christie Charity.

Postscript – be a driver for a fiver
We hoped to offer a locomotive driving experience this weekend but, with so many passenger trains in operation on both ground level loops, it simply wasn’t practicable. On the next two Sundays (that’s 6 July and 13 July) you can “be a driver for a fiver,” with any money raised from that being added to the funds raised for the Christie Charity. Drive a Scamp locomotive round our shorter loop – and we’ll throw in a ride round the big loop to boot! (Terms and conditions apply; the main one is that you must be over 16 to participate.)
