Should you need to contact the Membership Officer, you can do so by emailing the address above; communication made in this way will normally be forwarded to the Membership Officer within 24 hours of receipt; an acknowledgement of your email will be sent to you at the same time.

We currently collect and process the following information:

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you at the point of your application for membership of MCSME, although there may be other circumstances under which we obtain some or all of the personal information listed above. If you are a member of MCSME, you should furnish us with updates when appropriate (for example if you move house). We collect this information for the purposes of administering MCSME and informing you of its activities. By joining MCSME you consent to receiving notices of meetings and other information of legitimate interest to members. MCSME will not disclose any personal information to any other third parties, except where required by law, without your express consent.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases on which we rely for processing this information are your consent and where we have a legitimate interest. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting the Membership Officer.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored. The Membership Officer maintains a database of members’ contact information using a password-protected workbook containing a number of spreadsheets.

We keep your name, your postal address, your email address and your telephone number(s) for a period of six months. If you are a member of MCSME we keep your data throughout the period of your membership. If you leave, or do not renew your membership of, MCSME, we will keep your name, your postal address, your email address and your telephone number(s) for a period of six months from the date on which your membership finishes. We will then delete your information from the database held securely by our Membership Officer.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

How to complain

If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, you can make a complaint to the Membership Officer.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we have used your data.
